Project Focus? What elements of art and principles of design does this project focus on?
I CanWhat you should be able to do through the classes of this project
I can be inspired by an artists style and find elements to include in my creation.
I can create a skyline and draw buildings in the foreground and background using geometric shapes that are overlapping using a ruler.
Identify the three styles of Greek architecture – doric, ionic, and corinthian and include 1 style of columns in my drawing that will hold a pediment.
Add details to my cityscapes: use resource sheets to integrate cityscape details in the buildings, windows, and doors.
Add color to my cityscape using quality coloring techniques with colored pencils (shapes are colored evenly and fully).
I can take a 2-d surface and make it a 3-d form.
James Rizzi was born in 1950 in Brooklyn. He studied art in Florida (Gainesville), where he started experimenting with printing, painting and sculpting. Rizzi’s work often shows his birthplace New York. His paintings look sometimes childishly naive, with the bright colours and brilliant gaiety. In the art press Rizzi is often described as “Urban Primitive Artist ‘. Rizzi himself says he is influenced by Picasso, Klee and Dubuffet.
Faith Ringgold was born in New York City in 1930. While working as an art teacher in public schools, she began a series of paintings called American People, which portrayed the civil rights movement from a female perspective. In the 1970s, she created African-style masks, painted political posters and actively sought the racial integration of the New York art world. During the 1980s, she began a series of quilts that are among her best-known works, and she later embarked on a successful career as a children’s book author and illustrator.
